Using Memberships & Packages with Product Usage

When creating a service-based membership plan or package, you can include product usage. This allows clients to purchase products via a membership or package and apply those product credits toward services.

Important

Products purchased through a membership or package can only be applied toward product usage, not toward retail product sales. This applies to businesses that use the same products during services that they sell at retail to clients.

To add product usage to a membership plan or package, select the Product Usage tab. This tab only displays once product usage is added to at least one service.

Select Add product usage to add products to the membership plan or package.

Important

Products added to a membership plan or package can be applied toward any service that uses that product, not just the services included in the membership plan or package. Because of this, you can also create membership plans and packages that only have product usage and not services.

Note

You can include services and product usage in the same membership plan or package. This is helpful if you have services with a base price plus product usage pricing, as it allows the client to apply their service credits and product credits during checkout to cover the entire cost of the service.

In the Advanced tab, select the price to use for service commission.

  • Based on regular price: If any products were added to the membership plan or package at a discounted price (such as $10 per unit instead of the regular $12 per unit), you can select this option if the staff member should earn commission for these product credits based on the regular price ($12 per unit).

  • Based on discounted price: If any products were added to the membership plan or package at a discounted price (such as $10 per unit instead of the regular $12 per unit), you can select this option if the staff member should earn commission for these product credits based on the discounted price ($10 per unit).

To apply product credits from a membership or package during checkout, begin a checkout that has a service with product usage.

Enter the units used and select Apply package or membership.

Select Membership or Package next to the product usage.

Note

If the client also has service credits available for a service, you can select Membership or Package next to the service to also apply those service credits.

If needed, update the number of product credits to apply and select Apply.
