# Selling Gift Cards in Person

This article covers how to sell gift cards and [gift card promotions](/learn/selling-gift-cards-in-person/#selling-gift-card-promotions-in-person) from the **Sales** app or when checking out an appointment. You can also sell gift cards and gift card promotions [online](/learn/how-to-sell-digital-gift-cards-online/).

When selling gift cards in person, learn how you can [order physical gift cards to use with Mangomint](/learn/buying-physical-gift-cards/).

To sell a gift card in person for a custom amount, add the client to the sale who is purchasing the gift card.

Select **More > Gift Card**.

Select **Custom amount**.

Enter the gift card number or scan the gift card barcode and select **Add**. To automatically generate gift card numbers when selling gift cards, [update your gift card preferences](/learn/gift-card-settings/).

Enter the gift card value. Learn how you can [apply a discount to the gift card if needed](/learn/how-to-apply-discounts-on-gift-cards/).

If needed, specify the gift card owner (recipient) and the staff member who sold the gift card. Specifying an owner is helpful if the client is purchasing the gift card for someone else.

- If no owner is specified, the gift card will be available for the purchasing client to use.

- Gift card owners can be updated at a later time via the **Gift Cards** app.

**Note:&#xA0;**

No automated messages will be sent to the gift card owner (recipient) when the sale is completed. Once the sale is completed, learn how you can manually [send a digital copy of the gift card to the owner client](/learn/faq-gift-cards/#how-do-i-send-a-digital-copy-of-a-gift-card) if needed.

Select **Go To Payments** and complete the checkout as you normally would. Once the checkout is complete, the gift card will be [available for the client to use](/learn/how-to-use-redeem-a-gift-card-during-checkout/).

To sell a [gift card promotion](/learn/creating-gift-card-promotions/) in person, add the client to the sale who is purchasing the gift card promotion.

Select **More > Gift Card**.

Select an available gift card promotion.

If your gift card numbers are not [automatically generated](/learn/gift-card-settings/), enter the gift card number or scan the gift card barcode and select **Add**.

If needed, specify the gift card owner (recipient) and the staff member who sold the gift card. Specifying an owner is helpful if the client is purchasing the gift card for someone else.
