# Receiving Phone Calls

Phone calls can be received directly through the Mangomint mobile app.

When a phone call is received, a staff member’s phone will ring if they:

- Have the [Can make and receive calls](/learn/staff-member-permissions/) permission enabled in **Staff Member&#x20;**&#x73;ettings.

- Are logged in to the Mangomint mobile app.

- Are [available for phone calls](/learn/managing-your-phone-call-availability/).

Staff members can receive [desktop notifications](/learn/enabling-desktop-notifications/) when a phone call is received, which can be helpful for front desk staff members.

When a phone call is received:

- If the caller is an **existing client**, their name will be displayed. For staff members who do **not** have the [Can view clients' last names](/learn/staff-member-permissions/) permission enabled, only the client's first name will be displayed.

- If the caller is **not** a client, their phone number will be displayed.

Once one staff member answers the phone call, all other staff members’ phones will stop ringing. If the phone call is answered while the phone is locked, staff members can tap **More > Open in Mangomint** to open the call in Mangomint.

Once the call is opened in Mangomint, different call actions are available, including:

- **Profile:&#x20;**&#x54;his button is available for **existing clients&#x20;**&#x61;nd allows the staff member to view the client’s profile while on the call.

- **New client:&#x20;**&#x54;his button is available for **non-clients&#x20;**&#x61;nd allows the staff member to create a new client profile while on the call.

While on a call, if you navigate away from the call and need to go back to it, tap the phone icon.

When a phone call is received in Mangomint, Admin users and staff members who have the [Can make and receive calls](/learn/staff-member-permissions/) permission enabled can view details about the live call, including the client's name and which staff member they are speaking with.

When a phone call is missed, it will go to voicemail.

- Staff members can receive [notifications](/learn/staff-member-notifications/) when phone calls are missed and voicemails are received.

- A conversation will be considered **open&#x20;**&#x69;f a phone call is missed or a voicemail is received. Learn more about [open conversations](/learn/viewing-conversations/).

In addition to missed phone calls going to voicemail, phone calls will also go to voicemail if:

- There are no staff members [available for phone calls](/learn/managing-your-phone-call-availability/).

- The **Straight to Voicemail** or **Outside Business Hours Voicemail** settings are [enabled](/learn/updating-voicemail-settings/).
