# Managing Credit Cards on File

Client credit cards can be added on file:

- [Manually during checkout](/learn/how-to-charge-cards-on-file/).

- [Manually from the appointment details and client details](/learn/managing-cards-on-file/#manually-add-a-card-on-file-for-a-client).

- Automatically when clients use their card to complete an [online booking](/learn/online-booking-from-the-clients-perspective/), [Express Booking™](/learn/help-articles/calendar/express-booking/), or [Client Self Checkout](/learn/client-self-check-out/).

- Automatically when clients purchase a membership [online](/learn/selling-memberships-online/).

Cards on file are available once you have [signed up for payment processing](/learn/signing-up-for-payment-processing/).

Once a client has a card on file:

- You can [charge their card on file during checkout](/learn/how-to-charge-cards-on-file/).

- Clients can use their card on file to complete an [online booking](/learn/online-booking-from-the-clients-perspective/), [Express Booking™](/learn/help-articles/calendar/express-booking/), [Client Self Checkout](/learn/client-self-check-out/), and to make [automatic membership payments](/learn/start-a-new-membership-for-a-client/).

This article covers how to view, add, change, and delete cards on file.

To view a client’s cards on file, open the [client details](/learn/client-details/) and select the **Wallet** tab.

When viewing a client’s cards on file:

- A green **Default&#x20;**&#x62;adge will be applied to the client’s default card on file.

- A gray **Online Booking&#x20;**&#x62;adge will be applied to any card that the client has used to complete an online booking, and it will only be applied if the client [verified their phone number](/learn/online-booking-from-the-clients-perspective/#online-booking-from-the-clients-perspective). Cards with the **Online Booking&#x20;**&#x62;adge will be available for the client to use in online booking if they [verify their phone number](/learn/online-booking-from-the-clients-perspective/#online-booking-from-the-clients-perspective).

In addition to manually adding a card on file [during checkout](/learn/how-to-charge-cards-on-file/), you can also manually add a card on file from the appointment details and client details.

To add a card on file from the appointment details, select the appointment and select **Add Credit Card**.

To add a card on file from the [client details](/learn/client-details/), select the **Wallet** tab and select **Add credit card**.

To change a client’s default card on file, open the [client details](/learn/client-details/) and select the **Wallet** tab.

Select **Make Default** from the "..." menu next to the card.

To delete a client’s card on file, open the [client details](/learn/client-details/) and select the **Wallet** tab.

Select **Delete** from the "..." menu next to the card.

**Note:&#xA0;**

Cards on file cannot be deleted if they are being used for automatic membership payments. Learn how you can [change the payment method on a client’s membership](/learn/faq-memberships/#how-do-i-change-the-payment-method-on-a-clients-membership) if needed.
