  ###### How do I refund an account balance deposit or gift card purchase?

  To refund an account balance deposit or gift card purchase, [complete a refund](/learn/completing-a-refund/) by using the **Refund line items** option. This option allows you to refund the payment to the client and adjust the client’s account balance or gift card balance.

  ###### Can I change the staff member on a line item that was refunded?

  Line items on a sale cannot be edited if they were previously refunded. To make changes, you will need to fully refund the item and either add a new item to the existing sale or create a new sale.
