# Create and Send a Text Message Campaign

This article covers how to create and send **one-time text message campaigns** (marketing texts) to specific clients or your entire client list. If you need to communicate with a client via a text message conversation, [follow these steps](/learn/sending-and-receiving-text-messages/).

To send text message campaigns, you will need an approved **marketing phone number**. Learn how you can [register for a marketing phone number](/learn/adding-phone-numbers/#adding-a-marketing-phone-number). If you already have a marketing phone number that you use with [automated flows](/learn/help-articles/automated-flows/), this same phone number will be used for text message campaigns (you do not need to register for a marketing phone number again).

By using a marketing phone number, you will ensure that if a client unsubscribes, they will only be unsubscribed from marketing texts and not appointment-related texts (booking confirmations, appointment reminders, etc).

To create a text message campaign, you must be an Admin user, or you must have the [Can edit campaigns](/learn/staff-member-permissions/) permission enabled in **Staff Member** settings.

To create a text message campaign, open the **Campaigns** app and select **New Campaign**.

Select **Text message**.

In the **Settings** tab, update the campaign settings, including the campaign name and recipient list. The campaign name will be displayed in the **Campaigns** app and will **not** be visible to clients.

In the **Send campaign to** section, specify the recipient list. You can select from all clients, regardless of [client ownership](/learn/advanced-settings-client-ownership/) or your [permissions](/learn/staff-member-permissions/).

- **All clients:&#x20;**&#x53;elect this option to send the campaign to every client who is eligible for campaigns.

- **Only certain clients based on filters:&#x20;**&#x53;elect this option to only send the campaign to clients who match [specific filters](/learn/client-filters-for-campaigns/).

Once you specify the recipient list, a preview will display that shows the list of clients who will receive the campaign. The campaign will only be sent to clients who match the criteria **now**, not clients who **will** match the criteria at the time the campaign is sent.

In the **Content** tab, create the text message.

When creating the text message, you can add **merge tags** to personalize the message for each recipient. For example, when the text message is sent, the **First name** merge tag will be replaced with the client’s first name.

- **Client Profile Link:&#x20;**&#x54;he **Client Profile Link&#x20;**&#x6D;erge tag will be replaced with the client’s unique [client portal](/learn/help-articles/clients/client-portal/) link.

- **Business name:&#x20;**&#x49;f you have multiple [locations](/learn/business-setup-locations/), the **Business name&#x20;**&#x6D;erge tag does **not&#x20;**&#x69;nclude location names.

- **Phone number:&#x20;**&#x49;f you have multiple [locations](/learn/business-setup-locations/) with multiple phone numbers, the **Phone number&#x20;**&#x6D;erge tag will be replaced with the phone number for the last location where the client had an appointment or sale.

- **Online booking link:&#x20;**&#x49;f you have multiple [locations](/learn/business-setup-locations/) enabled for online booking, the **Online booking link&#x20;**&#x6D;erge tag is **not&#x20;**&#x6C;ocation-specific.

To add a merge tag to your message, select **Insert**.

To send yourself a test to see how the message will display to clients, select **Send test**. No marketing credits are required to send tests.

You will need **marketing credits** to send text message campaigns. Learn more about [campaign message pricing](/learn/campaign-message-pricing/).

**Note:&#xA0;**

Text message campaigns will include the text **Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Msg\&Data rates may apply** if the phone number has not received a text message campaign in the last 180 days. You will not be charged marketing credits for these additional characters.

After creating the campaign, you can [duplicate the campaign](/learn/duplicate-or-delete-a-campaign/) if needed. This allows you to easily send similar campaigns without having to recreate the same campaign every time.

In the **Review & Send** tab, you can send the campaign immediately or schedule it to be sent at a later date and time.

To send or schedule a campaign:

- You must be an Admin user, or you must have the [Can send campaigns](/learn/staff-member-permissions/) permission enabled in **Staff Member&#x20;**&#x73;ettings.

- You will need **marketing credits**. Learn more about [campaign message pricing](/learn/campaign-message-pricing/).

After the campaign is sent, you can [view the campaign's performance](/learn/view-your-campaign-performance/), such as how many texts were sent, delivered, etc.
