# Taking Cash Payments and Calculating Change

This article covers how to take cash payments and calculate change. You can also [split payments between multiple payment methods](/learn/how-to-split-payments/). For example, a client may want to pay $20 in cash and then pay the rest with a different payment method.

To take a cash payment, select the **Cash** payment button.

If the [change calculator](/learn/advanced-settings-payments-checkout/) is enabled, enter the amount of cash received from the client in the **Amount received** field. The change will be calculated automatically. If you received the exact amount from the client, you do not need to enter anything in the **Amount received** field.

Select **Confirm** to complete the payment. If you are using the **Cash Drawer** app, your current count will be updated automatically.

**Note: **

If the [change calculator and receipt preview settings](/learn/advanced-settings-payments-checkout/) are enabled, the client will see a receipt preview on your Front Desk Display while the cash payment is being completed. This preview will include all line items in the sale and any [custom fees](/learn/help-articles/sales-and-checkout/custom-fees/).
