# Taking Cash Payments and Calculating Change

This article covers how to take a cash payment and calculate change.

Learn how you can also [split payments between multiple payment methods](/learn/how-to-split-payments/). For example, a client may want to pay $20 in cash and then pay the rest with a different payment method.

To take a cash payment, select the **Cash** payment button during checkout.

**Note:&#xA0;**

If the [Receipt Preview](/learn/advanced-settings-payments-checkout/#receipt-preview) setting is enabled, the client will see a receipt preview on your Front Desk Display while the cash payment is being completed. This preview will include all line items and any offers, memberships, or packages that were applied.

Enter the amount of cash provided by the client in the **Amount received** field. If the change calculator is enabled, the change will be automatically calculated for you. To enable the change calculator, open th&#x65;**&#x20;Settings** app and go t&#x6F;**&#x20;**[Payments & Checkout > Advanced Settings > Change Calculator for Cash Payments](/learn/advanced-settings-payments-checkout/).

Select **Confirm**.

The sale will be marked as Closed. If you are using the [Cash Drawer](/learn/help-articles/payments/cash-drawer/) app, your cash drawer will be updated automatically.
