# Memberships Settings

To adjust your membership settings, open the **Memberships** app and select** Settings**.

In the **Preferences** tab, you can manage membership billing locations and allow clients to cancel their own memberships.

If you have multiple [locations](/learn/business-setup-locations/), you can choose which billing location to use when [starting a new membership for a client](/learn/start-a-new-membership-for-a-client/). You can choose to always bill memberships through a specific location, or you can manually select a billing location when starting each membership.

If different billing locations are used, you can run [Membership reports](/learn/membership-reports/) for specific locations.

Specify whether clients are allowed to cancel their own memberships through the [client portal](/learn/managing-memberships-from-the-client-portal/). If payment is due, the client will need to contact the business to cancel.
