# Advanced Settings: Payments & Checkout

To adjust payment and checkout settings, open the **Settings** app and selec&#x74;**&#x20;Payments & Checkout > Advanced Settings**.

Add custom payment buttons to the checkout to track additional payment types like Venmo or PayPal in your reports. Separate each payment type by a comma.

Customize the tip percentage buttons during checkout. Separate each percentage by a comma.

Enable the **Hide tip buttons** toggle to hide the tip percentage buttons on the Front Desk Display, during Client Self Checkout, and when [taking payments with a card reader connected to an iPhone or iPad](/learn/how-to-take-payments-with-the-card-reader-direct-connection/). Only custom tip amounts will be allowed. Tip percentage buttons will still be displayed on the **Payments** screen.

**Note:&#xA0;**

Tip percentages are based on services only (not products). For example, for a checkout with a $100 haircut and a $35 product, if the client selects 20%, the tip would be $20 (20% of $100).

When enabled, clients will be asked for a tip when [checking out at the Front Desk Display](/learn/how-to-take-payments-with-the-front-desk-display/) and during Client Self Checkout.

If tips are enabled for product-only sales, customers will need to enter a custom tip amount instead of selecting a tip percentage.

When enabled, clients will be asked for a signature when [checking out at the Front Desk Display](/learn/how-to-take-payments-with-the-front-desk-display/). We recommend you enable this setting, as it can help you fight [disputes](/learn/payment-disputes/).

When enabled, clients can complete payments from their phone. Clients will be sent a text message with a link to add a tip, complete the payment, and view their receipt. Learn more about [Client Self Checkout](/learn/client-self-check-out/).

Enable this toggle to add a **Check** payment button to the checkout to accept checks as a form of payment.

When enabled, a detailed receipt preview will display to clients when [taking payments via the Front Desk Display](/learn/how-to-take-payments-with-the-front-desk-display/) and when [taking cash payments](/learn/calculating-change-for-cash-transactions/).

When enabled, a staff member must be assigned to the specified line items to complete a checkout. This setting is helpful if staff member compensation is commission-based or if you need to track which sales are completed by each staff member.

Specify whether service providers should be displayed on the receipt, and add custom text that will be displayed at the bottom of the receipt.
