# Adding and Deleting Clients

You can add new clients in the **Clients** app, and when creating an appointment from the calendar.

Clients will also be added to your client list when they:

- Book an appointment [online](/learn/help-articles/online-booking/). This can include clients who enter their information online, but do **not** finish booking after being prompted for their [credit card information](/learn/how-can-i-require-a-credit-card-for-online-booking/) or a [pre-payment/deposit](/learn/how-to-require-a-prepayment-for-online-booking/). To help keep track of these types of clients, you can [create an automated flow](/learn/building-and-activating-a-flow/) using the **Client created** trigger. Make sure to apply the **Client attributes > Created by > Online** [condition](/learn/client-filters-for-automated-flows/) to the trigger.

- Submit an [external form](/learn/creating-form-templates/).

To create a new client in the **Clients** app, select **Add Client**.

If [client ownership](/learn/advanced-settings-client-ownership/) is enabled, you can select the staff member who owns the client from the **Owner** dropdown.

To create a new client from the calendar, enter the client's name and select **Add Client**.

Once you enter the client's information and select **Create**, the client will be added to your client list, even if the appointment isn't booked.

To delete a client, you must be an Admin user, or you must have the [Can delete and merge clients](/learn/staff-member-permissions/) permission enabled in **Staff Member** settings.

Open the client details and select **Delete** from the "..." menu.

Select **Delete** to delete the client.
